Reviews of Little is the Light
‘It makes you want to pack a suitcase post-haste.’
SUNDAY HERALD SUN
‘With the charm of Michael Palin, the wit of Clive Anderson, this man is adorable.’
TIME OUT
‘Vitali is a jokey, quizzical, irrepressible wanderer full of bounce and self-confidence. I love this book.’
JOHN SIMPSON, WORLD AFFAIRS EDITOR OF THE BBC
‘Vitali takes pleasure in playing the uncivilised alien . . . An unreconstructed male who yawns in church, puffs his way up Mount Athos on the lungs of a lifetime smoker and can’t quite see the point of fancy wines, when a shot of vodka would do the job much faster. His very name seems to spell “life-force”.’
OBSERVER
‘Vitaliev is a very amusing writer.’
SUNDAY TIMES
‘Vitali Vitaliev is streets ahead of any other journalist.’
CLIVE JAMES
‘Very entertaining. Vitali at his best.’
BILL BRYSON
Vitali Vitaliev can understand a culture and it's people with ease. He seems to be able to empathize, admire and criticize. The book flowed so well, I hardly put it down. The way he is able to make complex notions simple is rare in the literary world. The tone of the book is not the same as some of his other work like “Dreams on Hitler's couch”, this book reads much more like a documentary. Vitali, thank you for another great book.
